Christian author and theologian Dr. Christopher Yuan, who has become known for his story of leaving homosexuality and then vigorously defending a biblical sexual ethic, has been hospitalized after suffering a terrible fall, with his X account sharing that presently his arms and legs have been paralyzed and he’s unable to move them.
Yuan’s X account shared yesterday and early this morning, asking for continued prayer:
Dear friends, please pray for Dr. Christopher Yuan! He had a fall at home this morning, and cannot feel/move his legs. Emergency services are currently transporting him to the hospital. We appreciate your prayers! UPDATE- He is currently on the trauma floor and his mother is unable to see him. We will post updates.
UPDATE #1: He fell upside down on the teeter inversion table with a heavy swing and that heavy machine fell on his chest. It is not a normal fall.
UPDATE #2: He’s now in ICU waiting on test results and waiting to do more tests. His mom is with him.
UPDATE #3: The neurologist is coming tonight to talk about the surgery tomorrow. Right now Christopher’s arms and legs are paralyzed. Please pray that will not be permanent.
It is unsure how exactly Yuan was injured, but a typical teeter inversion table looks like this, suggesting he suffered an injury to his head or neck.
According to his bio, Yuan’s speaking ministry on faith and sexuality has reached five continents. He has co-authored with his mother their memoir, Out of a Far Country, which has sold over 130,000 copies and is now in multiple languages. Dr. Yuan’s second book, Holy Sexuality and the Gospel, was named 2020 Book of the Year for Social Issues by Outreach Magazine. Christopher has just produced The Holy Sexuality Project, a first-of-its-kind video series to help parents and grandparents to empower their teens to understand, embrace, and celebrate biblical sexuality.
