Pastor John MacArthur “may be in the presence of the Lord soon,” according to staff pastor Tom Patton, who gave Grace Community Church congregants a stark update during yesterday’s service.
Patton revealed that earlier this week that MacArthur, 86, contracted pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital. The debilitating setback comes after being away from the pulpit for the better part of a year, battling a series of health issues, setbacks, and complications stemming from multiple heart surgeries he had in the back half of 2024. In early March of this year, MacArthur himself acknowledged that he was on the “last lap” of the good race he’s been running, yet still hoped to recover.
Urging members to keep his family in their prayers, Patton added, “We place our dear pastor at the feet of the glorious Savior whom he has served so faithfully for so many years and now awaits His final command to be in his presence forever.”
