No Surprises Here: David French Flip Flops on ‘Personal Pronouns’

David French, who we like to call ‘The State’s Fool”, is a self-proclaimed “conservative” Christian commentator who can always be counted on to give the worst take possible on any situation.

These positions include announcing he’s pro-‘same-sex marriage, supporting ‘gender-affirming’ care for children, condemning Texas University for banning drag shows, declaring he’s voting for a Harris/ Walz ticket, and getting upset when Christians call chemical castration of children “abusive.”

In a recent episode of ‘The Opinions’ podcast, French spoke to economist Jessica Riedl- who, up until recently, was a man named Brian Riedl before he socially (and physically) transitioned into a “woman.”

Riedl has a wife and kids that he lies to himself by claiming they are “100% supportive, and encouraged me to take this step,’ all the while insisting ‘(I have) unmistakably known I was transgender since the age of 4.’

French is all but too happy to call him by his new name and use his pronouns, referring to him as a “she” in his introduction.

This capitulation sharply contrasts with his beliefs from just a few years ago, where in his 2018 article ‘In the Transgender Debate, Conservatives Can’t Compromise the Truth’ he sang a completely different tune. Here, French emphatically insisted that ” I will not concede that gender dysphoria trumps biology” while declaring “Our culture is in the midst of a live and important dispute over the very nature of biological reality — and over the psychological and spiritual health of hundreds of thousands of precious souls — and now is not the time to abandon the field.”

He was so forcefully, you’d be forgiven for thinking he meant it when he wrote:

With this new acquiescence, French has few convictions left that he hasn’t already compromised on, but that new low is just a column away.

  1. I’m sure he has to follow the in-house editing rules of his paper, the NY Times, which, like the AP style guide, probably forces the use of preferred pronouns. In that case, though, if he really were a believer, he would shake the dust off of his feet and move on to greener employment pastures. But, instead, he would rather be at the vaunted NY Times than at some publication that the coastal elites sneer at, which calls into question where his heart is truly at.

  2. No surprises here. He married the spirit of the age, and so he is being tossed back and forth with the winds of anti-Christian beliefs, all while claiming to be a primary voice for true Christians.
