Report: Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) Grows Attendance by Double Digits

The Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) is defying trends affecting other denominations, according to a recent report from The Living Church. Presented at the ACNA’s Provincial Council meeting, the report highlights a 13.4% increase in attendance over the past year, alongside other significant growth metrics.
Founded in 2009, the ACNA was established by conservative members of the Anglican Church of Canada and The Episcopal Church in the United States who were disillusioned by their denominations’ continued progressive shifts. While the ACNA maintains biblical stances that their previous denominations did not—opposing homosexuality, abortion, and euthanasia—it permits individual dioceses to decide on the ordination of women clergy, even if they can’t become Bishops or higher*
The report outlines several key achievements for the denomination, including:
- The ACNA expanded by 14 new churches, bringing the total to 1,079 congregations.
- Membership grew by 1,997 individuals, reaching 130,111, a 1.5% increase.
- Overall attendance surged by 13.4%, or 11,354 people, totaling 96,148 attendees.
- Baptisms increased by 5.6%.
- Confirmations rose by 15.8%.
- Weddings saw a 17.4% uptick.
- The denomination reported a budget surplus of $435,000.
Archbishop Steve Wood was visibly moved by the numbers and growth that the ACNA is experiencing, describing it as “humbling and incredible” while insisting, “It makes me eager to see what the Lord is up to next.”
* For now. It’s foolish to think the women clergy won’t want to ascend to the highest positions of power in the ACNA. The drift is already in motion, and another split is inevitable.
