Real Life Ministries Church Leaders Offer Frank Assessment of Beloved Pastor Who Committed Suicide
Leaders of Real Life Ministries Silver Valley have shared a frank conversation on the state of mind and soul of their pastor Gene Jacobs, who tragically killed himself last week, creating a video to help home-group facilitators guide their members through the passing of their pastor and offering insights on any lingering questions they may have.
The video is unique in that churches dealing with this sort of loss rarely share this type of access into the heart of their grieving body and the leaders’ concerns.
Expounding on the theology of suicide, they insist that he exhibited fruit of the spirit in his life and that given what they know of him, they have no reason to believe he’s not in heaven, offering a wise and biblical assessment of how they think about their pastor, and others in a similar situation.
Jacobs was reported missing by Real Life Church members after failing to attend an early morning 6:00 meeting. After an extensive search, a rescue helicopter discovered his body in the mountainous region of the hiking trails, where it was ruled he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
