Greg Locke Repents of Writing Book Against Benny Hinn, Now Considers Him a ‘Friend’

In an unsurprising turn of events, Pastor Greg Locke of Global Vision Bible Church has publicly renounced his previous criticism of televangelist and prosperity heretic Benny Hinn. Locke, who once penned a book decrying Hinn’s practices, recently joined his television program and attributed his earlier criticism to misconceptions and unease with the supernatural, saying he wrote it “for all the wrong reasons” after watching out-of-context clips.

Benny Hinn has long been regarded as the apex predator of the sheep slaughtering world, peddling his particularly noxious brand of property preaching for over 40 years. Renowned as the undisputed titan of televangelism, Benny Hinn has been spreading his distinctively twisted brand of prosperity gospel for almost four decades. With an estimated net worth hovering between 40 and 60 million dollars, he enjoys a lavish lifestyle, including private jets, a sprawling mansion, and high-end hotel suites. His healing crusades have drawn massive crowds, sometimes exceeding 7 million attendees, all clamoring for miracles and an escape from poverty as he preaches word-faith heresy, ‘name it and claim it’ doctrine, ‘little god’ theology, and his wildly blasphemous interpretation of the Trinity as nine beings.

As Locke becomes increasingly embroiled with deliverance ministry and charismania, Hinn’s wild theological statements and unnerving behavior seem less destructive and more appealing. It’s no wonder they’ve formed an unholy alliance. Hinn tells Locke:

You’re gonna love this today, you are just going to love this. I have with me Pastor Greg Locke. Now pastor Greg Locke at one time did not like me. In fact, he wrote a book against me and today we’re friends, so only God can can do that.

I met him just yesterday. And he has become quite well known recently. But first, I want you to tell us what you told me yesterday. And by the way, I really liked him on the spot, on the spot. He is very dynamic, at one time Southern Baptist. Look at the way he’s dressed. Very spiffy.

Locke wrote the book ‘Blinded by Benny’ in 2005, where he rightly pointed out his errors. Not so much anymore.

Locke: You know, I was actually Independent Baptists, which is a little bit more fundamental than the Southern Baptist. Literally 21 years ago I wrote a book against you for all the wrong reasons, because I had read and heard and you know, watched all the out of context clips in those days, and I literally had no affinity whatsoever for anybody in healing ministry, deliverance ministry.

I thought all gifts, miracles, tongues, signs, wonders ceased. I was Baptist amongst Baptist, I was an absolute cessationist. I was taught that the apostles had power (and) when they died the power died with them.

So when I would see you on TV, I would immediately have this bitterness that would well up in me towards anybody that was on, you know, TBN or CBN, or 700. Club.

Hinn “He called his book ‘Blinded by Benny’. Blinded by Benny.

Locke: With the white suit on the front. I’m pretty flamboyant now, so it just took one day for you to rub off on me. But you know, I just, I really had an absolute aversion to anything that was supernatural. But the more I read the Bible, the more powerful the ministry of the Holy Spirit became. And so I tell people, the theology of God’s word ruined my manmade theology. Because I was always taught well, you know, they just believe in experience over theology, but what I found out, it’s, that’s not the truth. You believe in experiential theology. You believe your theology.

Hinn: That is really, really powerful.

Locke has also been defending his associations on Facebook, writing:

In a sermon a few days ago, Locke alluded to this meeting with Hinn, making a similar confession:

‘I’ve told you listen, when a guy’s false, I’ll name him. And I’ll continue to do that. But I’ve named people from this pulpit as false prophets that I’ve never met one day in my life.

I listened to what somebody on the internet told me. I listened to what some doctor Bottle Stopper sister Winkle John told me, what some famous influencer told me. And so I started to be due diligence to warn the people of God against the false prophet of God who I’d never met and had no idea whether he was or whether he wasn’t, but I knew that it would put me in a position to make it seem like I had all my ducks in a row.

I’d say it and believe it to the core of the convictional value of my heart and then come to find out maybe it was true, maybe it wasn’t, but you sure made a big grandstand over something that you probably should have never done.”
