Florida has seen a significant decline in the number of abortions performed in in 2022 compared to the year before, according to the state health department. Florida has a ban on abortions after 15 weeks, which went into effect in July 2022, and made no exception for rape and incest. This has resulted in 11,000 fewer butchered babies.

According to the figures, there were 68,217 babies killed this year, compared to 79,817 in 2021.

While this is good news, it is nothing like Texas, which has seen abortions drop 97% after passing much more stringent pro-life laws. There has been some talk from Republican legislatures about lowering the abortion limit even more, with Incoming Senate President Kathleen Passidomo expressing a desire to see the ban drop from 15 weeks to 12.

The State’s 15-week abortion ban has been challenged by pro-choice groups and is before the State’s Supreme Court.
