Stunning and Brave! HS Valedictorian Ditches Speech, Lauds Baby Murder

Texas High School Valedictorian Paxton Smith tossed her prepared, approved speech and went off-script during her graduation ceremony, explaining that “it feels wrong to talk about anything but what is currently affecting me and millions of other women in this state” and using her three minutes to instead attack her state’s restrictive new abortion law, which bans the murderous practice as early as 6 weeks and is set to take effect September 6th.

She bemoans the fact hat with the cut-off time being so early in the pregnancy, it would be before they “have the time to decide if they are emotionally, physically, and financially stable enough to carry out a full-term pregnancy, before they have the chance to decide if they can take on the responsibility of bringing another human into the world, the decision has been made for them by a stranger.”

Describing how she is “terrified” that if her birth control fails her, “my hopes and efforts and dreams for myself will no longer be relevant” and that it is dehumanizing to lose her bodily autonomy.

She concludes:

“I refuse to give up this platform to promote complacency and peace, when there is a war on my body and a war on my rights. A war on the rights of your sisters, a war on the rights of your mothers, a war on the rights of your daughters.”

We cannot stay silent.

As we leave high school we need to make our voices heard. I was going to get up here and talk to you about TV and content and media because those are things that are very important to me. However, in light of recent events, it feels wrong to talk about anything but what is currently affecting me and millions of other women in this state.

Recently the heartbeat bill was passed in Texas. Starting in September, there will be a ban on abortions that take place after 6 weeks of pregnancy, regardless of whether the pregnancy was a result of rape or incest. 6 weeks. Most women don’t even realize they’re pregnant by then. And so, before they have the time to decide if they are emotionally, physically, and financially stable enough to carry out a full-term pregnancy, before they have the chance to decide if they can take on the responsibility of bringing another human into the world, the decision has been made for them by a stranger. A decision that will affect the rest of their lives.

I have dreams, hopes, and ambitions. Every girl here does. We have spent our whole lives working towards our futures, and without our consent or input, our control over our futures has been stripped away from us. I am terrified that if my contraceptives fail me, that if I’m raped, then my hopes and efforts and dreams for myself will no longer be relevant. I hope you can feel how gut-wrenching it is, how dehumanizing it is, to have the autonomy over your own body taken from you.

And I’m talking about this today, on a day as important as this, on a day honoring the students’ efforts in twelve years of schooling, on a day where we’re all brought together, on a day where you will be the most inclined to hear a voice like mine, a woman’s voice, to tell you that this is a problem. A problem that can’t wait. I refuse to give up this platform to promote complacency and peace, when there is a war on my body and a war on my rights. A war on the rights of your sisters, a war on the rights of your mothers, a war on the rights of your daughters.

We cannot stay silent.

  1. Too bad she didn’t want to give a speech on abstinence instead of wh&ring herself around to whatever man is willing to have her. Then that takes all her “worry” away. Feminism has sure ruined so many women. As Dr. Laura says so bluntly, stop being an “unpaid wh&re” and have respect for yourself. Men don’t have to even work for it anymore.

    1. This is so true. But feminism hasn’t just ruined women, it has ruined men, too. Because feminism brings with it high rates of divorce, many of our young men are being raised by single mothers. These young men are not accustomed to male authority, leadership or masculinity. In fact, they hate male leadership because they are intimidated by it. They gossip and play mind games just like young girls. They are passive-aggressive and self-centered. They deal with stress in the same way they see their mothers deal with stress — emotionally. Most of these men stall in adolescence (playing video games and living the bachelor life) instead of taking the responsibility of starting a family and being the leader, provider and security for his wife and children. We have males that will father babies but not take any responsibility for them because life is supposed to be about fun and games, not servant-leadership and sacrifice. Feminism has created masculine women and feminized men.

      1. In addition to that, I’ve heard that (true or not) a contributing factor to the ‘loss of masculinity’ was the very real loss of numerous men in the battlefields of World War One and World War Two. And even those who survived apparently had all sorts of unaddressed (supposedly) stress and problems which affected their lives, which in turn affected their family life and cause other problems to subsequent generations.
Along with that, during World War Two, with many men away to fight on the battlefields, women had to work in the factories and other workplaces in place of the now absent men. And having tasted ’empowerment’ from having their own jobs and careers, there was no real going back to prior expected roles for women.

  2. How special – the crowning moment in this individual’s academic career will have been her lauded (at least by God haters) promoting of the mass slaughter of unborn children.

  3. Her body her choice. You fascists can’t force her to give birth or to expose her to covid. Wear your mask, get the jab and respect her choice! Turn off Tucker Carlson and love your neighbor!! We true evangelicals support her 🇮🇱🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

    1. El-wrongo, faux ‘evangelical.’
The baby she so looks forward to murdering is not ‘her body’ but another. Maybe that’s why if somebody kills her pregnant self, they are charged with two counts of murder.
The fact you apparently don’t know these basic truths says volumes about your intellect (and morality).

    2. One cannot call themselves a true evangelical and believe that baby murder is something that God agrees with.

  4. One of the major disconnects I see with the abortion issue is the pro-lifers thinking that humanizing the fetus will convince pro-choicers that abortion is wrong because it takes a human life.

I think the reality is, they already know it’s a human life, they just don’t care. Abortion and the unilateral control of the reproductive process is sacred to feminists and even though pregnancy is easily preventable (especially with contraceptives, protection, or even *gasp* abstinence), they aggressively attack anything they they perceive to be a threat to their “rights”, they’re not worried about getting pregnant, they’re mad that their ultimate expression of feminism is having restraints put on it.

Also, I find her language very exclusionary to the other 57 genders. HOW ABSOLUETLY DARE she exclude men and other birthing people! She is part of the cisgender, ablist problem with her narrow view of gender. /sarcasm

  5. I don’t understand the title. How is what she did stunning and brave? Wouldn’t that be a title if this article was on a pro-abortion page?

    1. It’s sarcasm. The people who run protestia are not at all in agreement with baby murder, I promise.
