Investigators Implicate Megachurch Pastor Who Resigned Over Allegations He Concealed Son’s Sexual Misconduct
Three months after Eastview Christian Church’s longtime senior pastor Mike Baker abruptly stepped down from his role leading one of the biggest megachurches in the state following allegations that he covered up his son’s sexual misconduct, an investigation conducted by church-hired attorneys found the allegations against Baker credible, and that both engaged in gross misconduct, according to an 11-page report.
In 2016, Mike Baker’s son Caleb was a pastor at Eastview when he resigned from his role and headed off to become a pastor at Central Christian Church. Following Caleb’s departure, Eastview says they received allegations of sexual sin against him, but nothing came of them.
A former colleague of Caleb’s claimed that Eastview knew full well that Baker was a cheating scumbag but chose to conceal it and let him leave in peace rather than be confronted and exposed. Rather than tell the church he was heading to the actual reasons he was being let go, his father, the elder Baker, swept it all under the rug.
After Caleb Baker, now the Lead Student Pastor and Associate Preaching Pastor of Central, was fired from his church after being caught in an illicit sexual affair, questions were raised about how he came to be hired in the first place, given allegations of sexual misconduct at ECC. It soon became apparent that his father may have been involved.
According to investigators tasked with uncovering the truth, it is ‘more likely than not’ that both Bakers acted below reproach to conceal the son’s secret sexcapades, writing:
