Angel Studios’ ‘The King Of Kings’ Racks Up $7.8M+ In Presales

Angel Studio’s upcoming animated faith-based flick ‘The Kings of Kings’ is set to do bank at the box office this weekend, already earning an estimated $7.8M in presales, according to Deadline.
Written and directed by Seong-ho Jang and featuring the voices of Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamill, Pierce Brosnan, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley, and Oscar Isaac, the film “follows Charles Dickens, a young author who narrates the biography of Jesus Christ. Together, he and (sin son) Walter Dickens embark on an adventure as the master storyteller engages his youngest son’s vivid imagination.”
Based on those presale numbers, Global Head of Theatrical Distribution & Brand Development at Angel Studios, Brandon Purdie, said the film is currently tracking better than their 2023 surprise hit ‘Sound of Freedom’ did, which went on to earn over $250M worldwide. He told Deadline
The King of Kings is finding incredible support from both audiences and theaters, who are passionately seeking content that is not only richly entertaining but also deeply faith-affirming. “We’re seeing the same groundswell of energy and anticipation that surrounded the lead-up to Sound of Freedom—a growing wave of grassroots momentum. Will The King of Kings ignite that same level of cultural intensity? Few films ever do. But this film is charting its own course, leaving its mark on animated storytelling and capturing the hearts of audiences.”
The biggest opening for any faith-based animated film of all time is still 1998’s The Prince of Egypt, which gorssed $14.5M at the box office on it’s opening weekend, which is $26M adjusted in 2025.
