MorningStar CEO Chris Reed Steps Down, Mentor Implies Reasons Are Sketchy and Sus
MorningStar Ministries, a prominent entity in Charismatic Christendom, has become a symbol of the worst excesses of the New Apostolic Reformation and Pentecostal movement. Founded by Rick Joyner in 1985, the ministry has been a platform for every false teacher and loon with a story of visiting heaven, a prophetic word to plug, and a book to sell.
It was under the leadership of Rick Joyner that MorningStar Ministries introduced the Holy Spirit Hokey Pokey and promoted, platformed, and restored cancerous evangelist Todd Bentley.
In fact, it’s no exaggeration to say that Bentley’s movements and speech are dictated by little demons that sit on his head, steering him by tugging his ears left or right while whispering the words they want him to say. For years this was overseen with the approval and blessing of Joyner, who was also a key cog in the Charismatic Day of Infamy.
In 2021, Chris Reed, a false prophet and spiritual con artist took over MorningStar from Joyner. Reed is as crooked as a question mark, insisting he received a vision from God that John the apostle is still alive and roaming the earth today, all the while routinely engaging in cringy fake ‘mentalism’ displays.
He recently announced his resignation on X, writing in part:
After MUCH prayer, thought, and consideration, along with Missy and trusted friends, I have decided to fully and immediately step down from all leadership responsibilities at MorningStar Ministries. This includes my role as CEO, President, and Senior Pastor of the Fort Mill Church, turning the ministry back over to Rick Joyner, the founder of MorningStar. I submitted by letter of resignation on Monday, August 26, 2024, and it was graciously accepted.”
“I know this may come as a surprise, and perhaps even a shock, to some of you. Please believe me when I say this was not an easy decision. I am heartbroken. There are many reasons behind this choice, but primarily, after three years of serving here, including over a year as CEO and President, I have come to realize that I cannot continue in this role.”
Responding to these claims, Joyner, who will step back into his role, released a lengthy statement suggesting that Reed is “deceived” while citing and drawing comparisons to Paul Cain, a veteran charismatic leader and members of the Kansas City Prophets who admitted long-term alcohol use and unrepentant homosexuality, as well as other folks who have fallen or in some way knocked off course, making it sound like something is much more malicious on the part of Reed is at play.
“Chris Reed has resigned as president and CEO of MorningStar Ministries. This resignation may seem bizarre and confusing to those who have followed it, and I hope to clear some things up…
This is a serious situation, the type of which I have witnessed several times over the 50-plus years I’ve been in ministry. I have seen it rob people with very powerful gifts of years of effective ministry. This has happened to me, as deception came upon me and cost me more than 10 years of ministry. I saw it cost Bob Jones eight years, and I think it cost Paul Cain his ultimate purpose. It is the most deceptive spirit I’ve ever dealt with, and right now I think Chris Reed is in a battle for his future.
…I never give up on anyone, regardless of how far off they seem to get. Many of the great voices in Scripture and history also experienced this. Not all recovered, but those who did were used in an even greater way.
Chris has an important calling for this time, and I feel at least partially responsible, understanding this as I do, for not seeing this coming at him. I could have done better helping him resist it. Even so, whether in a short or long time, I am confident Chris will get through this and take his place doing what he is called to do.”
While we’re not prophets, we can practically see the other shoe dropping from here.
dont know him but looks like he spends a lot of time on himself looking so unnatural with overly trimmed beard, his wife looks exhausted, she needs care and a break and to be pampered. bringing up his past sexting is a low blow from Rick if they delt with it, sounds like it had nothing to do with his resignation. God forgives a repented soul
