Bethlehem Bible Church pastor and ‘No Compromise Radio’ Host Mike Abendroth has given a health update regarding his recent cancer diagnosis, saying that the “numbers are good” and he is back to “once a month visits” for the rest of the year.
Abendroth was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, undergoing radiation treatment and announcing he was cancer-free a year later. In his time, he created several reflections on the impact that his cancer diagnosis had on his faith and how it brought him close to Christ.
In October of 2023, Abendroth shared that he was again diagnosed with cancer. It was not a recurrence of prostate cancer, however, but rather a new diagnosis of leukemia found in his lymph nodes, bones, and blood.
Abendroth’s treatment is going to plan. He has moved from going into the hospital for treatments to just taking cancer-targeting drugs, which he’ll be doing throughout this year and possibly into the next.
These diagnoses have not shaken his faith, only strengthened it. When asked why his theology has gravitated to a Christ-centered, law/gospel duplex gratia (Christ for pardon and Christ for power), he responds with, “The Book of Hebrews and cancer.”
