A new abortion clinic is set to open next week in College Park, Maryland, and it will be one of the few in the country offering ‘All Trimester Abortions’- abortions done up to 34 weeks, six weeks shy of the 40 weeks that full-term pregnancies typically last. Founded by abortionists Dr. Diane Horvath and Morgan Nuzzo, they expect ‘Partners in Abortion’ to be the most controversial abortion clinic in the nation.
In the United States, around 1% of abortions happen after 21 weeks, which will be the clinic’s specialty. Along with their regular abortion appointments, they anticipate murdering 10 second and third-trimester babies a week. Maryland is one of 16 States that has codified abortion access into their laws, and the clinic is making the most of that.
In an interview with NPR, Horvath argues that all-trimester abortions shouldn’t be politicized. She acknowledges that while some abortions will be on account of discovering severe fetal deformities, such as down syndrome, others will be because the women simply waited too long in their home state. This should not preclude anyone, arguing; “Every time we draw a line, and we say ‘no more abortions after this point,’ someone’s going to fall on the other side of that line, and they’re going to be harmed.”
To handle the influx of protesters and scrutiny, along with the threats that will certainly come their way, the building has been altered to include panic buttons, heavy doors, cameras everywhere, and even shatterproof windows.
“It’s scary,” says Nuzzo, commenting on the the negative energy and attention they’re bound to receive. “It’s very hard to continue to do work when you think about all the violence that’s directed at you. And it’s not imagined. It’s not made up. They want to kill us. They want to shoot us…I don’t want to normalize it, ’cause it’s not normal. But I still come to work and I do this job because it’s too important to not do it. I mean, the whole point of terrorism is to make you afraid. And what the anti-abortion folks are doing is terrorism.”
