World’s Biggest Bible App Announces ‘Most Enagaged-With’ Bible Verse. (Hint. It’s Not Jer 29:11)

YouVersion, the world’s most downblaoded bible app withhas YouVersion, the world’s most downloaded Bible app, has announced its 2025 ‘Verse of the Year’, which is the most ‘engaged with ‘ Bible verse across its platform, according to a press release from the organization.

Isaiah 41:10 (is the) most engaged-with verse throughout 2025. This marks the fourth time in six years the verse has claimed the top spot, which is a testament to the enduring need for God’s reassurance in uncertain times.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Last years most engaged with verse was Phillipians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Commenting on the win, Bobby Gruenewald, Founder and CEO of YouVersion, offered, “I think this verse keeps rising to the top because it addresses one of our deepest needs, the assurance that we’re not alone. In a world full of anxiety and uncertainty, people are drawn to God’s promise to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us. That message never gets old because the need for it is universal and timeless.”

YouVersion recently celebrated more than 1 billion downloads and says 2025 has been a year of “unprecedented growth,” seeing spikes in engagement all over the world, including some days with nearly 20 million concurrent users.

Fear of the Lord is good. Fear of anything or anyone else is not good. And the reason is because it is giving in to the corrupt and wicked flesh. And that, along with calling our Creator a liar, is essentially what defines sin. As Jesus told the pharisees in Matt. 19, “from the beginning, it was not so”. He is showing them what defines sin and what does not, and how it all points right back to the account of Creation and the fall. (though is not determined by creation itself, or from nature, which was also corrupted)

Rev. 21:8 reminds us, for this reason, that the cowardly will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Those who hold to such scripture, reminding us not to be afraid, already understand that such fear is wrong. And it is wrong. But there is healing in understanding how and why it is wrong. And there is also conviction for some, that they may not themselves be born again, and that the Holy Spirit and Word may not be in them.

The subject of fear, and what it truly is, in many cases (but not all), being ruled by the fear of the flesh, is a good example of why we must test the spirits, and exercise discernment. To see and understand the source of the fear, is to properly judge the fruit.

“16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” – 1 John 4:16-18

To understand this is to understand the Gospel … “whoever fears has not been perfected in love”
