A missionary couple from Virginia, serving in Uganda, have been struck by tragedy after their vehicle was hit by a train, killing the wife and hospitalizing the husband.
Matt and Savannah Gardner are members of Temple Baptist Church in Herndon, Virginia, and were serving with Baptist International Missions, Inc. (BIMI) in Uganda, East Africa, when they were involved in a terrible accident.
BIMI shared the following from their Facebook page:
Please be in prayer for the family of Matt and Savannah Gardner, BIMI missionaries in Uganda, East Africa. Today, as the Gardners were traveling on one of the main streets in Kampala, a train crossed the road and hit their vehicle.
Savannah went to Heaven instantly. The two sons are completely fine. Matthew sustained internal injuries and is presently in the hospital.
Please pray for Matthew to heal quickly, and for the two sons, Jedidiah (age 4) and Mason (1 year old). We praise the Lord that there is a large group of BIMI Africa missionaries there who are assisting them at this time. If you would like to help the Gardners financially, you may send an offering to BIMI and designate it “Matt Gardner” (Account #1623). Thank you for your prayers!

You go to those place you’re rolling the dice.
What is with White liberals who think they can change the world, stick their nose into everyplace and everyone’s business. Train or not, these third world places are dumps where they are forsaken. God is real yet religion is a scam. They were told to go out into the mission field, donate donate. So many places and people one cannot help.
White liberals? They were Christian’s fulfilling the Great Commision.
Agree with you Jon, these people who put these comments obviously do not understand God’s Word, clearly go into ALL the world not just where you feel like. Our prayers are with Matt and his boys and know they are in God’s will. Our privilege to support him at this time, as they are doing work we cannot do or called to.

White liberals? I think you mean white religious zealots from the right. Almost 100% of Uganda has a religion, so why were their missionaries there to begin with? And a train doesn’t cross the road and hit you. You have to be in the path of that train at some point.
Praying.
So saddened by the loss of Savannah. God heal the husband; strengthen , comfort him & the children & pour out all they need to go thru this time victoriously in Christ Jesus.
With you Julie praying for Matt.
