Tony Evans’ Son, Jonathan, Appointed New Leader of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship

Jonathan Evans, son of Pastor Tony Evans, has been installed as the new senior pastor of the 11,000-member Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, the church his father founded nearly 50 years ago.

Two months ago, Pastor Tony Evans, 75, was restored to ministry after stepping down for more than a year due to undisclosed sin. At the time, he revealed that he would not be rejoining Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in a staff or leadership capacity. Instead, that honor is going to his son.

Tony Evans preached the message on Joshua taking over from Moses, comparing himself to Moses handing over leadership with the promise that he would eventually see the Promised Land.

Numbers chapter 27 says you can’t go over to the promised land. But I ain’t finished with you yet. Cuz years from now I’m going to bring you to the mount of transfiguration which is in the promised land.

‘You can’t do it now, but I got plans for you in the future that’s going to blow your mind. I’m going to let you see it now, but I’mma bring it to you a little bit later.

So, I just want you to know I can see it, but I believe God still got something for Tony Evans down the line that I ain’t seen yet. Cuz he still has a purpose for my life and gifts as long as he has me here.

So don’t feel bad for Moses and don’t feel bad for me because Joshua is going to lead you. But at the right time, God’s going to take me to the mountain he has for me to keep his kingdom moving forth.

So hang in there with the new leader. Support him. Love him just as you did your founder. Thank you for loving me.

Jonathan, 44, is a former football player who has five children.
