Bishop Who ‘Rebuked’ Woman for $1250 Tithe Given $100K by ‘Christian Celebrity’

The “bishop” who recently went viral for publicly correcting a woman who was giving her tithe at the wrong time received a boon this past Sunday, receiving $100,000 from actor and producer Tyler Perry.

Marvin Winans is the “bishop” of Perfecting Church in Detroit, Michigan, and is leading a fundraising campaign for a building fund to purchase a new building. As a result, he’s been promoting Giving Sunday, an event that has seen him encouraging/berating congregants to give at least $1,000 from their own money and then raise another $1,000 by asking friends, family, coworkers, and local businesses.

Congregants are to publicly share how much they give, and when one woman, Roberta McCoy, went to the front and announced she was giving $1,250, rather than graciously thank her for her gift, Winans scolded her for not following his directions, saying it was the time for those giving $2,000. “Now that is only $1,200,” Winans said. “Y’all not listening to what I’m saying.”

Despite facing controversy and angry threats for his actions, which he atributed to “the devil going crazy,” Winans celebrated the record giving, announcing this past Sunday that they raised $525,768 for their building fund. He also shared that Tyler Perry gave them $100k, with the billionaire mogul encouraging Winans to, “Tell my name, cause I know God is in this.”

Despite Perry proffesing to be a Christian, his personal life reveals the truth of his heart. Perry spent a decade shacking up with his girlfriend and having a child out of wedlock, making him a walking, talking hypocrite and false convert.

Notably, Perry once donated a million dollars to TD Jakes’ Potter’s House church and then laid hands on the notorious anti-trinitarian, speaking in tongues while anointing him.

We last wrote about Perry after he was filmed at a party stuffing money into a twerking stripper’s underwear last year.

That bully-scold-browbeat grift method has been common in black churches for at least 30 years. It works on black sheeple; not sure why. It mostly crashes and burns when deployed on white sheeple, though. White sheeple are more consistently manipulated with “save the world” drivel. But it’s 6 and 1/2 dozen, the other. All denominated Christianity has become a marketing platform to sell one product: indulgences. “Not my church, though; only all those other churches…” Yeah, keep telling yourself that, sheeple.
