Sean Feucht Cancels Worship Service Over Poor Sleeping Conditions, But Was He Justified?
Prominent worship leader Sean Feucht concluded his Canadian “Let Us Worship” tour, which was marked by controversy during its final leg, and which saw everything from smoke bombs being thrown at him during his worship service to multiple politicians calling for his events to be canceled.
Steve Lesperance of Straitway Truth Deliverance Ministry publicly denounced Feucht as an “evil fraud” after Feucht canceled an event at Kawartha First Nation’s Treasure Island Private Family Resort originally scheduled for yesterday morning
After multiple venues in Ontario canceled on Feucht, Kawartha First Nation, in partnership with Straitway Truth Deliverance Ministry, offered to host the event. Feucht announced the arrangement in now-deleted posts.
However, tensions arose when Feucht and his team arrived after midnight and were dissatisfied with the run-down condition of the camp, which has a poor reputation among locals.
Lesparance, the Deputy Chief of Kawartha First Nations, shared in press release:
“Kawartha First Nation had stepped in to host the event after six of Feucht’s Canadian tour stops were cancelled, organizing the gathering in less than 48 hours. Preparations included:
A cleaned and prepared event centre for 200–300 people indoors, with outdoor capacity for thousands.
Breakfast service and a coffee truck for attendees.
Accommodations for Feucht, his team, and 15 crew members, including showers and additional lodging.
…At 12:03 a.m., Feucht’s Canadian director, Nichola Shilton (Burn Canada), notified Deputy Chief Brother Steve by email that Feucht was “appalled with the sleeping conditions of the lodging that was provided” and would not lead worship, despite previous assurances that his team only needed “a place to lay their heads and a shower” after days on the road.
Despite Feucht’s last-minute withdrawal, the gathering will proceed as scheduled.

In response, Lesperance questioned their motivation:
Cassie, Sean’s road manager, told me “all they wanted was a place to lay their heads and a shower.” after sleeping on the bus for the last few days.
We delivered exactly that. Yet your email said Sean was “appalled with the sleeping conditions of the lodging that was provided,” and the event was cancelled – without a thank you, without a phone call, and just hours before the gathering.
Even if the accommodations weren’t ideal, would Jesus walk away from His flock? Would He cancel a worship gathering because the conditions weren’t luxurious?
Beyond logistical issues, the event’s hosts were controversial. Kawartha Lakes First Nation emerged just a few years ago after William Denby, who reportedly is not Indigenous, declared himself chief of a claimed nation, asserting rights to nearly 6,000 square miles of land and designating his property as a Indian reserve. (See more about him here) Denby was later arrested and charged with criminal harassment, uttering threats, and intimidation of justice system participants after making veiled death threats against band leaders who disagreed with his legitimacy.
As for Straitway Truth Deliverance Ministry, they appears to be some soer of Heberew Israelite offshoot with more than a few beliefs.

I’ve been traveling for a lot of years and have stayed at my share of really awful motels in the middle of nowhere. My threshold for not staying at one is if the sheets are stained and if the bathrooms are so dirty that I have to stand up to pee. I really can’t blame him, but he at least needs to honor his commitments and sleep on his bus.
