Politician Cries Foul After Priest Denies Him Communion Over Pro-Euthenasia Position

In a rare show of backbone that should be emulated by Roman Catholic clergy everywhere, a British politician was publicly denied communion by his parish priest over his decision to support a bill that advocated for euthanasia, an act the church considers a mortal sin.

Calling the denial “outrageous,” Coghlan nonetheless supported the bill and, in turn, complained to his Bishop about the denial and the fact that it was announced to his friends and family.
While the United States has seen some priests denying communion to some high-profile Catholics, like Joe Biden or Nacy Pelosi, other clergy have administered the elements to them without objection.
Notably, in 2021, the Vatican sent a letter to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (UCCB) regarding some of their party’s push to deny communion to pro-abortion Catholic politicians, warning them not to proceed and to allow them to receive communion despite their political beliefs and actions.
