Lifetime Channel Enters Christian Market With Slate of Faith-Based Films

Lifetime Channel aims to capture a larger audience with a new slate of faith-based films, focusing on Christian content released over the summer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, these films are “centered on women facing unfathomable circumstances who use their faith to lead them through.” The lineup, which kicks off every week starting July 19, includes:
- Finding Faith: Stars Paula Patton as a widow rediscovering her trust in God after the sudden loss of her husband.
- Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story: Starring Chrissy Metz, it highlights the heroism of nurse Nichole Jolly during the 2018 Paradise, California wildfires.
- Before Your Father Finds Us: Features Alexa PenaVega as a woman hiding herself and her teenage daughter from an abusive ex-husband.
- If I Run: Adapted from Terri Blackstock’s novel, it stars Casey Cox as a woman framed for her best friend’s murder, using divine guidance to navigate her journey.
Notably, in 2021, the network cancelled Dr. James Kennedy Ministries’s Truths That Transform, decrying it as too controversial after they featured an exposé on Planned Parenthood.
According to Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president of programming:
We are always listening to our audience, and we know there has always been a desire for stories that reflect strength, resilience, and faith. With these four new films, we’re thrilled to step into the faith-based space in a way that feels authentic, powerful, and deeply emotional. These are stories of healing, hope, and perseverance — and we believe they will resonate with anyone who’s ever faced adversity and looked for light in the darkness.”
Lifetime is the “ultimate women’s channel” and features “stories for women, made by women” and which seeks to “empowers women to find their strength through the transformative power and attraction of entertainment.”
