‘Devout Catholic’ Stephen Colbert Insists A Black Queer Woman Portraying Jesus in Musical Is ‘Long Overdue’

“Devout Roman Catholic” Stephen Colbert is praising actress Cynthia Erivo’s upcoming portrayal of Jesus in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar, calling it “long overdue” while gushing over the notion that a woman is playing the part.

During her recent appearance on his show, Colbert opined about the prospect of the openly queer singer assuming the role, telling her:

I’m so excited that in August you’re going to be playing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. First woman to play Jesus in a major production, long overdue. I’ve said for years I’d love to see a woman in that part.

It’s no surprise that Colbert would be pleased with the portrayal, given that he is a pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ progressive whom the late Tim Keller once described as a believer who shows the world a “brilliant example of how to be a Christian in the public square” and who has been a ‘witness’ for his faith in a “form the culture can handle.”

  1. Devout Catholic? This man should not be allowed near a Catholic church until he confesses his sins and promises to “”sin no more” He advocates for homosexuality, transgender lifestyles and abortion. I do not think anyone even considers him a Christian. This is the evil that is presently in many churches and it is a desire to ruin and take down the church.
Jesus Christ and God, do not adapt to society — society adapts to their laws.
