Pastor and Wife Accused of Abusing 8 Children, Charged With Incest, Battery
A South Carolina pastor and his wife have been arrested while on the lam and are facing multiple allegations of physically and sexually abusing their eight children, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier this month, Myron Chorbajian, 73, who serves as pastor at 1st Southern Methodist Church, and Kathleen Chorbajian, 70, were arrested on fugitive from justice warrants, according to law enforcement officials, who were captured out of state after learning about the investigation.
According to reports, the Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation in April 2025 after one of their children came forward, reporting abuse that allegedly started in the 1980s and involved all their siblings.
Authorities determined that male children experienced physical abuse, while female children were subjected to sexual abuse. Two of the victims, who were minors at the time of the alleged abuse, have since passed away.
Arrested in Nashville, Myron faces 23 charges, including three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor (ages 11–14), three counts of incest, one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, fourteen counts of placing a child at risk, harm, or abandonment, and two counts of second-degree assault and battery.
His wife, Kathleen, is charged with 16 counts, including fourteen counts of placing a child at risk, harm, or abandonment and two counts of accessory after the fact of a felony.
Notably , the church believes in a form of Christian perfection, with their website reading:

Christian perfection is that work of the Holy Spirit which is subsequent to regeneration, and is wrought when the believer presents himself a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, and is thus enabled through grace to love God with all his heart. Methodists have always been very clear and positive in their teachings that this is not angelic, adamic, faultless perfection, but rather that Christian perfection where the soul is filled with the love of God and all its faculties are spiritualized through the fullness of God’s presence within. While in this state, God is loved with every faculty of one’s being, and one’s neighbors are loved as one’s self.
A judge denied bond for both individuals, and they remain in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
