Prosperity Pastor Says Jesus ‘Hates Poor People’ + ‘Jesus never visited any poor person in his house’

David Ibiyeomie is a pastor, televangelist, author, and founder of Salvation Ministries, a megachurch based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Notably, it is the largest church auditorium in the world, with a capacity of 120,000 people.

A mammon- flaunting multimillionaire, he is known for his constant promulgation of the prosperity gospel, where he shows off his high-end cars and private jet while teaching that God despises poverty and wants everyone to be rich. Recently he gave Bishop David Oyedepo a Rolls Royce Cullinan for his 70th birthday, which retails for $500k.

Two weeks ago, he came under fire for a highly controversial (and straight up demonic) sermon where he preached that Jesus hates poverty so much, and poor people so much, that he never visited any poor person in their house. He explains:

“If I tell you something, it’ll baffle you; Jesus never visited any poor person in their house; check your bible. That means he hates poverty. Check. He visited Lazarus; they were not poor; they were giving food. He visited a sinner, called Zacchaeus, who was rich.

“Tell me one poor man Jesus entered his house. He hates poverty; that’s the meaning. He hates people who are poor. He died for you not to be poor. So how can you now come into a church having that mentality?

You can come poor, but you’re not permitted to remain poor. There’s nothing wrong you come into Christs’s house a poor man, but it’s wrong for you to remain what? (“poor”) It is wrong.”
