Megachurch Pastor Arrested After Stealing Nude Photos From Congregant’s Phone
A megachurch pastor in Kenosha has been fired from his job after being arrested and charged with two felonies for stealing nude photographs off one of his congregants’ cellphones.
Gabriel Mills was the Guest Experience Pastor of Journey Church when he hosted a small group in his home. According to the Kansas City Star:
The couple told police Mills had access to the husband’s phone during a Sept. 22 meeting at the church because he was helping him download an audio book…but while Mills acted as if he was only being helpful, he began digging for private things, found intimate images of the man’s wife and sent them to his phone using the AirDrop feature, investigators said.
At some point after the meeting, the couple discovered the AirDrop app had been accessed several times while Mills had the phone…They then contacted police. Investigators obtained a warrant to take Mills’ phone on Sept. 28, and while searching the device they found explicit photos of the church member’s wife, according to the station.
Mills, who is married and has five young children, was charged with two counts of capturing an intimate representation. Kevin Taylor, a pastor at Journey Church, said in a statement:
“We terminated Gabe’s employment upon learning of the allegations that led to his arrest. At this time, Gabe is entitled to due process, and we will cooperate with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. We are committed to transparency and accountability throughout this process and will await further information from the authorities.”
