Video: Eastern Orthodox Priests Cursing and Anathematizing ‘Calvin, Luther Zwingly’ and ‘All Branches of Protestants’

A recent video has emerged showing a group of Eastern Orthodox priest raining down anathemas on protestants reformers and “all branches of protestants” as part of a yearly feast. Method Ministries on Instagram explains:

The Synodikion of Orthodoxy is a document called to be read yearly on the feast of Eastern Orthodoxy (EO), celebrated on the first Sunday of Lent which pronounces curses on all Christians (Non-Eastern Orthodox).

An Anathema is a curse that condemns someone to hell. The Synodikion, who is associated with the 7th Ecumenical Council, defines Anathema as, “Anathema is nothing less than complete separation from God” (2nd Nicaea, The Letter from the Synod to the Emperor and Empress, from the Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, 2nd Series, Vol. 14, p. 573).

He alos notes:

Eastern Orthodoxy is not a Christian religion. It teaches salvation by works and icon worship, and claims that only they are the One True Church, and all others are heretics, and ritually curses them.

Protestantism teaches in accordance with the Gospel that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Don’t abandon God for man-made religions.

  1. They actually believe their anathemas have an effect, with God Almighty bowing to their pronouncements and demands. Very arrogant…Proverbs 26:2..”As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”
