Brian Houston Acknowledges DUI: ‘I Take Full Responsibility’

Earlier in the day, we broke the news that Brian Houston was charged with a DUI in 2022, weeks before resigning from Hillsong church. Houston left the megachurch after being accused by the leadership of committing indiscretions with two women and having a drinking problem, including getting drunk and spending nearly an hour in a woman’s hotel room in 2019.

In an Instagram post, Houston, who we recently featured in our Countdown: Top 10 Most Expensive Meals Brian and Bobbie Houston Expensed to the Church (Number 4 is $2433.38) offered up a personal statement, saying that he only drove a few hundred yards when he was caught, and did so during a time of “immense pressure” and “emotional strain. ” Houston says he’s put all that behind him now and is looking forward to a “fruitful season ahead.”

  1. California, and Newport CA again.

You know, I tried looked at the international Hillsong records, but found them not easy to use because they were not searchable, I wanted to match up a few dates.

But I think they probably only list a small amount of what is going on, because each of Hillsong’s churches in other countries probably keep their own books, meaning money could be funneled a lot of ways, plus, as I overheard in a conversion at Hillsong, they also have a lot of private corporations and associate organizations (they had set up a corporation to take care of what normally a church would do – the context of the conversation is lost to me). All while I was apparently to one hillsong supporter online – “spying out the land”.

Yes, whatever, I was concerned about a friend, and checking it out. One who is still in my prayers btw. So I have a personal righteous anger here. But speaking out about extreme rot in churches and denominations is something I’ve done for a long time, and often with results – because God takes care of it. I’d be speaking about Hillsong the same anyway, because it is a cesspool. I regret loosing time because waiting until seeing myself. I also in fact have a few odd hillsong stories that come from newport california.

In my opinion, that area in california is probably where they will try to funnel money to to rebuild it if given a chance. A different country, and a prized territory. Maybe they plan to compete with scientology?
