New Sims Video Game Expansion Includes Top-Surgery Scars and Chest Binders
In a sign of the times, the popular video game The Sims 4, which allows players to create and dress characters called “Sims,” build and furnish houses for them, and simulate their everyday lives” while interacting with online friends and communities, has added the option for characters to adorn themselves with top-surgery scars and chest binders, as well as ‘bottom shapewear’ designed to hide the penis bulge.
It’s one more progressive addition to the storied franchise with over 33 million players that strives to be as personalized as possible. Same-sex relationships have been commonplace for years, and recently players were given the option to choose their Sim’s sexual orientation and personal pronouns.
With the new addition of these options, some worry about the young teen players who may receive positive reinforcement or pressure from their curiosity. Many players grow highly attached to their Sim and the parasocial relationships they form with it, living out online a life they wish they offline.
