Must See! ‘Antichrist and His Ruin’- Documentary About Churches Resisting COVID Closures, Drops Friday!
On Friday the feature-length documentary Antichrist and His Ruin will be released. Inspired by John Bunyan’s book, Of Antichrist and His Ruin, the film explores the actions of the fascistic government towards the church during the COVID-19 lockdowns and the pastors and churches who resisted. The promo material explains:
“When the Canadian government ordered churches to close, practically everyone complied. But some pastors led their churches to assert the supremacy of Christ over all things and especially Christ’s church and her worship. The state has been presuming to tell the church how, when, and with whom she ought to worship her Lord. In so doing, it has made itself an antichrist, trying to take the place and the honours that are due to Jesus alone.”
Serving as an apologetic against the encroachment of the state against the church, and why the church must never shut down or give an inch, featured speakers include many of the Canadian pastors who were ridiculed, persecuted, fined, and imprisoned for refusing to shut their doors, and others, including James Coates, Tim Stephens, Jacob Reaume, Joe Boot, Steve Richardson, Aaron Rock, Michael Thiessen, Alex Kloosterman, Nate Wright, André Schutten, Jonathan Wellum, James Kitchen, Doug Wilson, Owen Strachan, Tom Ascol, Tom Nettles, Brent Smith, John Koopman and Steve Flippen.
I’ve seen the film and it is tremendous. It is phenomenal and deserves to be seen by everyone. Particularly moving is the last third, which shows pastors being arrested for their faithfulness and the lengths other professing Christians went to, including TGC, to justify the lockdowns and frame the pastors as unloving and dangerous. It’ll make you tear up, and then stiffen your spine.
