Saddleback Church Evacuated after Receiving Bomb Threat

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, was evacuated after the church received an ‘electronic threat’, resulting in the Hazardous Devices Team (HDT) being brought to conduct a search for suspicious packages.
The HDT, known as the bomb squad, responds “to reports of suspicious, potentially explosive devices in Orange County.” Their mission is to “render safe any devices homemade or commercial that may harm the public, outside the military realm,” where members of the unit are “highly trained in all aspects in the detection, identification of and safe disposal of explosive devices from the crudest of pipe bombs to sophisticated devices.” They are “supported by the agency’s K-9 Squad who had dogs trained in the detection of hidden explosives.”
The HDT swept the church and ultimately found nothing, reopening the church later that evening.
According to reporter Hannah Lykke, they also swept the San Juan campus as a precaution.
The location in Forest lake is one of the 25,000-member- megachurches’ 14 campuses. The threat came two days before Warren, who became famous for peddling to the church the poison and spiritual strychnine that is The Purpose Driven Life for over four decades, gave his final sermon at his former home, having recently retired and given the pulpit over to new lead pastors Andy and Stacie Wood.
