Setting the Record Straight on the GTY/G3/ Cessationist Conference ‘Rift’

Last week, one X user noticed a change in the marketing material for the upcoming Cessationist conference being put on by G3, showing the venue was no longer being held at Grace Community Church and was no longer an advertised ‘ministry partner.’ This prompted a question that’s been viewed nearly 100,000 times for an event that’s still a year away.

Naturally, several folk took note and express their surprise at the news.

While that’s all well and good, one industrious follower claimed that the venue changed because John MacArthur wanted to distance himself from G3 over a disagreement regarding the Eternal functional subordination of the Son (EFS).

This alleged rift, however, was denied by Cessationist movie writer David Lovi, who explained it had to do with a venue change and that there is no rift.

It was also denied by Johnson, who praised G3 for their conferences and explained that while GTY was removed from the marketing material after the venue changed, there are no known theological conflicts between the two groups and ministry representatives were still going as conference speakers and would be participating fully in the event.
