New ‘Gospel Adventure’ Video Game Reaches Crowdfunding Goal in 3 Days
A new video game that will let players “travel back in time to explore ancient Israel, interact with gospel stories and examine the deeper meaning of Jesus’ words” has met its Kickstarter funding goal in only 79 hours and released a playable demo as it anticipates a 2024 release.
Developed by game studio Bible X and published by BCC Media STI, game producer Arve Solli explains “We really want to dive into creating a game for the younger generation to be able to experience Jesus and to be able to get familiar with the stories and the events from the Bible. This game might be the only Bible some people read.”
Users can “play the bible” with missions like helping Mary and Joseph find a missing Jesus, assisting shepherds in gathering sheep, solving riddles, traversing ancient Jerusalem, and involving themselves in 30 stories from the gospels.
The game is somewhat reminiscent of another Bible-themed game, the blasphemous “I am Jesus Christ’ which lets users play through stories from the New Testament as Jesus himself.
Sounds wonderful if it is accurate and reverent – bravo!

This game violates the Second Commandment with depictions of the Son of God. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Many evangelicals will praise this game, but it betrays their departure from God’s law and will. Any attempt to portray any member of the Trinity provokes God to wrath, just as it did when the Israelites made a golden calf. To depict Christ’s humanity is to depict his deity—you cannot separate the humanity from the deity of Christ (they are bound inseparably in one person), doing so is an affirmation of the ancient Nestorian heresy.

Sounds seeker sensitive to me. Maybe we should just teach youngsters to actually read and delve into the deep things of the scripture. Making the bible entertaining is just catering to the baser things of this world…must everything be entertaining?
