UMC Church Sings ‘Pink Pony Club’ For Praise And Worship

Galveston Central Church is a United Methodist congregation in Galveston, Texas, that tries to “take the best of the Church from the last 2,000 years and smash it together with Galveston’s own unique culture and vision of the divine.”

They are led by Michael Gienger and Julia Riley. He’s a self-described he/him, and according to his church bio, “is an Enneagram Five, and his Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Strategic, Ideation, Intellection,  Connectedness, and Futuristic.”

Riley, on the other hand, is a she/her and leads the church’s LGBTQ+ group. According to her bio, she is an “Enneagram Six, and her Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Developer, Empathy, Context, Learner, and Intellection.” They are both supported by Ezra Bordelon (he/they), the church’s creative worship director, and an Enneagram Nine.

The church describes itself as “a different kind of church,” explaining:

“Sometimes people hand out popsicles or ice cream cones in the middle of the service. One of our pastors preaches in his bare feet. There’s music and poetry and art. There are married couples, Baby Boomers, and a few folks in their 70s. Some of our friends have homes, while others are homeless. Other than that, it’s mostly folks who are between the ages of 22 and 42 and single.”

They love anything to do with LGBTQ, including marching in parades or decorating their church with rainbow yarn for special occasions like Easter and Pride month.

During yesterday’s service, they kicked off the church service with gay icon Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club, which includes lyrics like:

“God, what have you done?
You’re a pink pony girl, and you dance at the club,” oh mama
I’m just having fun
On the stage in my heels, it’s where I belong, down at the

Pink Pony Club, I’m gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, I’m gonna keep on dancing down in
West Hollywood, I’m gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, Pink Pony Club

I’m up and jaws are on the floor
Lovers in the bathroom and a line outside the door
Black lights and a mirrored disco ball
Every night’s another reason why I left it all

I thank my wicked dreams, a year from Tennessee
Oh, Santa Monica, you’ve been too good to me
Won’t make my mama proud, it’s gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl, I know she’s gonna scream

  1. People given over to reprobate minds and they have no idea that God hates the things they love. What a terrible place to be in…

  2. Why does God allow this and not smite them Old Testament style? Arise O God, why slumbereth thou? Arise and smite these fags for your glory. Amen.
