Christian YouTuber ‘Redeemed Zoomer’ Says It’s ‘Evil’ and ‘Weak’ To Attend a Faithful Evangelical Church
Redeemed Zoomer (Richard Ackerman) is a Christian YouTuber who has gained a following over the years for discussing the differences between denominations and how to save the Mainline church, resulting in over 560,000 followers.
At only 22 years old, he founded Operation Reconquista, whose goal is to capture mainline denominations from progressives. However, many have questioned whether he is the right man for the job on account that there are over a million members and nearly 18,000 ministers in the PCUSA and he has only managed to attract the smallest percentage of them.
Progress or lack thereof aside, he holds several idiosyncratic beliefs, including being a Darwinian evolutionist, being fanatical about institutional loyalty over faithfulness and godliness, and being a self-described “elitist” who looks down on other denominations and institutions that aren’t part of the Seven Sisters of American Protestantism.
Recently, we took him to task for explicitly telling us he’d rather attend the worst PCUSA church- run by lesbian preachers who moonlight as planned parenthood abortion doulas and blaspheme Christ in every sermon, than the best gospel-centered, faithful PCA church. That statement prompted this missive:
Yesterday, RZ appeared on Gavin Ortlund’s podcast, where he insisted that evangelicalism (‘non-institutional Protestantism’) should be abandoned, which includes Calvary Chapel, Christian Missionary Alliance, Non-denominationalism, etc.
He believes Christians should leave these churches, even if they are theologically and spiritually solid, and instead join conservative ones (relatively, he doesn’t consider having a woman as senior pastor is a deal or sufficient to tarnish its categorization as a conservative, recommendable church) in the liberal mainline denominations, including the United Methodist Church (UMC), Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Episcopal Church (TEC) Presbyterian Church (USA) (PC-USA, American Baptist Churches USA (ABC-USA), United Church of Christ (UCC) and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) (DOC).
In the discussion, Gavin Ortlund asks RZ if he would attend a church where the pastor “does not believe Jesus was bodily raised from the dead” (which is the case in several mainline churches that we’ve documented) over a conservative church split off from the mainline. RZ was adamant that not only would he and did he, but he’d also recommend that same course of action for Christians who are strong in their faith.
“It’d be balancing evils, choosing a lesser of two evils. I would say it’s always an evil to be a schismatic, but a greater evil would be to be an atheist. And if someone would definitely become an atheist if they are in a church like that, then I would say it would be a concession I make. It’d be the lesser of two evils for that person to attend Second Pres [Presbyterian]. But the ideal would be, once they are at a place where they are strong enough in their faith to attend First Pres, I mean, ideally, I would tell people to not live in an area where there’s not a mainline church that’s not heretical.”
He also says he’d allow parents with younger children to attend a faithful non-denominational church in “rare cases”
“In your scenario with people that have kids and they’re weak in their faith, yeah, I’d probably say it’s a necessary lesser of two evils to go to a non-mainline church. It’s very very rare that people are in that situation. If they are in that situation, yeah, I would concede that.”

Not to blame youth but…this kid’s foundation is all sorts of sand, and he needs a ton of maturing, especially if he is influencing so many people.
A few years from now (5, 10, 20), hopefully sooner, he will cringe in horrific embarrassment over his views today. But the damage will be done.

Try rereading Genesis 3:22 and understand just what your Gods were discussing, (and yes I pluralized God on purpose). Try reading it in Hebrew. It literally says “as one from us”, expressing separation. Someone in the divine realm was no longer keeping good company. It does not say “as all of us”.
His loyalty to the Institutional PCUSA reminds me of the “Traditionalist Catholics” whose loyalty is to the institution of the Roman Catholic Church, not to Jesus Christ. The Institution is their minds comes before God. Whatever influence Reformed Zoomer may have in the PCUSA is putting lipstick on a pig at best (or attempting to embalm the corpse of a terminal patient).

Francis Turretin quote that Gavin gave in brief and paraphrased, given here in fuller form:

Note, Turretin says “The Romanists cannot deny this.” And yet unRedeemed Zoomer denies it.
Gavin uses an interesting analogy after his “would rather worship with orthodoxy in a sewer than in a cathedral with heresy” comment. That is, if the liberalism has “gone to seed.” Non-gardeners may not understand the meaning of this. But many vegetables when they “go to seed” or in other words flower and put out seed, that indicates the plan is dying. The plant uses its remaining energy to put out seed, then it dies. So there is a point where the liberalism is so entrenched in a denomination that it is like this. Yet unRedeemed Zoomer would have you stay on the dying stalk.
unRedeemed Zoomer is also incapable of understanding the difference between militarily conquering Canaan by massacring people, and taking back liberal colleges by becoming a college professor who will just be fired for not being liberal enough.
The more of this I watch the more I realize unRedeemed Zoomer is demon possessed. All the theories that he’s a Jew, or a Jesuit, or CIA, or gay, they are all MASSIVELY underestimated the heart of pure evil that beats within his chest. Having gotten to the end of the Ortlund video, this guy is so evil.
Now as far as the 1st great awakening causing people to ultimately fall away, that’s Calvinism. But he’s demon possessed so he can’t see that but instad will say that planting churches and preaching the gospel caused people to fall away from Christianity!
Since Trent Horn and Richard Ackerman both grew up secular jews, it is inevitable (especially given Ackerman’s insane view on ecclesiology) that Trent Horn will convert Ackerman to Papism, because they share the same anti-christ perspective.
