Prosecutors Drop Indecent Assault Charge Against Ronnie Goines, Civil Suit Remains

All criminal charges have been dropped against pastor Ronnie Goines of Koinonia Christian Church, who was arrested last summer after being accused of sexual assault and indecent assault by a woman in his congregation.

Last month, Goines was “no-billed” on the charge of felony sexual assault on March 19, 2025, meaning the grand jury declined to charge him with the crime because there wasn’t enough evidence to support the claim.

The indecent assault mark still existed, but prosecutors dismissed it last week, choosing not to pursue criminal charges. Goines told Kera News:

From the very beginning, I maintained my innocence and trusted that truth would prevail. While this has been a challenging season for me and my family, I remain committed to serving with integrity, humility, and love.

A civil suite against him is still ongoing, however.

On February 28, 2025, the woman who accused Goines of assault filed a civil lawsuit against him and the church, alleging that he groomed her and sexually assaulted her. Claiming the incident left he traumatized, she’s suing Goines for $1 Million dollars in damages, with her lawsuit saying things like:

“The predatory grooming process of Plaintiff in which Goines engaged was intended to cause, and in fact caused, Plaintiff to trust Goines and to communicate the most personal details of her life to Goines. Every aspect of Plaintiff’s life, including her work, her fears, her emotions, and her aspirations, was laid open to Goines.”

She says that as they became more acquainted, Goines texted her numerous times, “continuing his manipulative tactics and his explicit sexual comments and questions,” such as asking her whether or not her old boyfriend “got hard” and whether or not she was a virgin. Eventually, after an incident with her car having troubles, she ended up at his apartment, where he allegedly made his move, seeking to kiss her and remove her clothing.

“Goines pulled Plaintiff’s bra down and kissed her on the breast. At that point, she jumped, jerked away, and pulled up her top. Goines then stopped, walked over to a chair, sat down, and began talking as if nothing had happened.” After saying she wanted to go home, but needed to use his washroom beforehand, she alleges he followed her and tried to sexually assault her again, before she escaped.

Despite this incident, she went to his home *the next day* because she previously agreed to watch a play with him, where she wore a long dress believing that it would would “make her less appealing and reduce the chance of his acting out again.” However, her gambit didn’t work and she alleged he tried to pull up her dress and sexually assault her again, which resulted in her fleeing and escaping again.

His lawyers have insisted that any interactions between them were completely consensual, that all he ever did was hug her, and his church put out a statement saying he has their full support
