Vandals Desecrate Church, 40 Gravestones With Foul Language and Phallic Symbols
Vandals have defaced a church and over 40 gravestones on church property over the weekend, spray painting lewd messages and phallic pictures in what is being treated as a hate crime.
On a good Friday, the perpetrators decided on St James Church in Leland, UK, where the Rev. Marc Wolbverson presides. Along with writing out ‘God is a lie,’ ‘cunt’ and ‘prick,’ and ‘f*** you’ on the side of the building, they also painted dead faces and rudimentary penises on the gravestones. They also wrote ‘die’ and ‘prick’ on them, many of which are over 170 years old.
Labor Candidate Paul Wharton-Hardman, who shared the images on his Facebook page, described the actions as “sickening, blasphemous and cowardly,” and insisted that it’s not just direspectful, but rather an act of ‘evil.’
Det Sgt Lee Jamieson of South CID told the Telegraph that “We are taking this matter incredibly seriously and this is being treated as a hate crime. We do not tolerate hate of any form, and we will do everything in our power to identify the offenders and take the appropriate action.”
