Prominent Indian Pastor Bajinder Singh Sentenced To Life in Prison for Raping, Blackmailing Woman
Bajinder Singh is the resident “Prophet/ Apostle” at Punjab’s Church of Glory and Wisdom. He has risen to prominence on Instagram and TikTok, where he can frequently be seen performing outrageous miracles and having a knock-em-down mentality, gaining millions of followers on social media, including 3.76M on YouTube.
Armed with a testimony of converting from Hinduism to Christianity while serving time in prison on murder charges, he was known for preaching to massive crowds where he claimed to cure cancer and AIDS, raise people from the dead, and bless them financially, so long as they give to his ministry.
He was also just sentenced to life imprisonment for a 2018 incident that involved drugging a woman, raping her, filming it, and then using the video to blackmail her.
Furthermore, since his arrest, two other women have come forward claiming he sexually assaulted them in cases that have not been litigated but are being investigated by police.
The rape victim’s lawyer, Anil Sagar, expressed his satisfaction with the sentence, saying, “It is an exemplary punishment because any leniency in such cases where people use their social position to rape poor and weak people increases the confidence of predators.”
For his part, Sighn’s lawyers said he plans to appeal, with several of his supporters insisting these crimes have been ginned up by his enemies to discredit the message he’s been preaching.
His brother, Davinder, is leading the church in his absence, circulating a prosperity message with Bajinder’s face on it that says:
“All those who shall join the meeting will be able to get Permanent Residency wherever they have applied for it, open new businesses, become financially stable, get government jobs, see improvement in health and get matrimonial alliance.”
