Most Politically Active Protestant Denominations Revealed (SBC Not Even in Top 10)
- A new survey by social researcher Ryan Burge has revealed the most politically active Protestant denominations in the United States in the last election, with progressive mainline denominations taking all the top spots. In his recent missive, Burge lists six acts related to political participation:
- Attend a political meeting
- Attend a protest/march
- Contact public official
- Political donation
- Put up a political sign
- Volunteer for a candidate
True to form, the wokest denominations were the most politically involved, with the Episcopal Church, United Church of Christ, and PCUSA taking three of the top four spots in terms of outward political involvement.
While conservative denominations like the SBC frequently get targeted by bad-faith actors and tut-tutting wokescolds for their political activism in promoting their preferred candidate, they are among the least politically active groups, with other liberal groups far more enmeshed.
Notably, the two most active groups are the United Church of Christ and the Episcopal Church, whose demographics consist almost exclusively of wealthy octogenarians and 30-year-old blue-haired lesbians.
It’s no surprise that the seasoned citizens with time on their hands and money to burn are so involved; they have an over-representation of motivated LGBTQ advocates within their desiccated corpse of a church, pushing them towards participation.
Burge has previously reported that by far the most politically active group are atheists, easily outclassing Christians on every front.
