Methodist Christmas Service Ft. Grinch Lauds The Importance of…Recycling?
First United Methodist Church West Lafayette is a progressive Methodist church that “embraces and celebrates the complexities of our faith, our world, and each other.”
Led by Rev. Duane Carlisle, they are a “Reconciling in Christ” church that “welcomes everyone, through all life’s stages, with arms that are open, respectful, and loving. And by everyone, we mean regardless of a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, race, ability, bank balance, or background.”
During their 2022 Christmas service, the Rev. Carlisle donned his priestly vestments decorated with images of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
The church also brought in a Grinch actor who handed out presents based on teachings they had throughout the Advent season, including little recycle bins, as one of the Christmas messages was how Isaiah 35 teaches creation care and the importance of recycling.
