TGC Leader Ray Ortlund Says To Vote For Kamala Harris- Then Deletes Account

Prominent Evangelical pastor and author Ray Ortlund decided to “go for it” on the weekend, tweeting out his conviction of “Never Trump. This time Harris. Always Jesus,” resulting in a bucketload of backlash that ended in Ortlund deleting his whole account.

Ortlund is an Emeritus Council member of The Gospel Coalition and founding pastor of Immanuel Church in Nashville, where Russell Moore is in leadership as the “Minister in Residence.”

After being asked how he could justify voting for Harris, Ortlund offered:

“Abortion is a horrible evil. But the evils on the other side have risen to levels that jeopardize the foundational rule of law in our country. I am thinking long-term and voting for us to have a national renewal in the future”

Unfortunately, no one was able to press him on the fact that if anyone is seeking to “jeopardize the foundational rule of law in our country,” it’s the Democrats.

Yet rather than gamely engage with his critics and justify such a view (at the very least, he could have said “Never Trump, Never Harris,” but didn’t), Ortlund deleted his entire X account, shutting down all future conversations on the matter.

Ortlund later revealed on his Threads page that he was “being misinterpreted,” even though he clearly wasn’t. When asked how he was being misinterpreted, he refused to say other than to insist that “answering your question could risk reversing my decision to delete.”

  1. As change agents, these people are doing exactly what they are trained to do: deliver the Church into the jaws of Satan.

  2. TGC went liberal years ago, not surprising since it was founded by Tim Keller. Doesn’t surprise me at all that one of its main people is a democrat.

  3. I couldn’t agree more with John, Alex, and Fred Johnson above. Thank you,!

Harris has been a loose woman all her adult life. She is described in full in Revelation 17:5.

  4. Personally, I wouldn’t want to try to defend that vote/endorsement on judgement day, but apparently thinking about eternal ramifications isn’t thinking long-term enough for his liking. Go figure.

  5. Gavin, Ray Jr.’s son with all the fanboys, is of the same ilk. He called Tucker Carlson and his fans white supremacists on Twitter.
