Gateway Church Executive Pastor Fired Over Undisclosed ‘Moral Failure’
The revelation that Gateway Church pastor Robert Morris sexually abused 12-year-old Cindy Clemishire decades ago was the turn that opened the floodgates, cracking open the congregational ribcage to expose the dark hearts of self-preservation and deviancy animating the corpse of the largest megachurch in America.
In the unlisted video post to YouTube emailed to congregants, Elder Tra Willbanks shared with the church body that Executive Pastor Kemtal Glasgow, who provided oversight and leadership to most of the church’s 560 employees, including pastors, was terminated for unspecified moral reasons.
“We were informed last week of a moral issue which we believe as elders disqualifies him from the role he had at Gateway. We love his family. We love his wife and his kids, and we want to come alongside them during this difficult time and help them find restoration and healing that they need to find as a family.”
Though the church is mum on specifics, sources have alleged to us that the moral failings were sexual in nature.
Glasgow has been married for 21 years and has three children aged 14 to 9.
The termination follows two high-profile exits, including Robert Morris’s son James, who was set to take over the church from his father, and Steve Dulin, the founding elder and executive pastor leading the Gateway Kingdom Business Leaders ministry, who went on leave due to an investigation into abuse allegations against Morris, but then parted ways with the church over unspecified reasons. Amy Smith revealed he was fired.
Hiding under the cloak of religion is part of human nature. That’s why some people never trust a preacher.
