Prominent Catholic Apologist ‘Voice of Reason’ Accused of Grooming Teen, Sexting Multiple Women

Alex Jurado is the founder of Voice of Reason, a popular Roman Catholic apologetic channel with over half a million followers across multiple social media platforms. His CatholicSpeakers bio speaks glowingly of his accomplishments, with some of his highlights including:
He was known as a teenage prodigy in his local community after becoming a catechist and apologist at age 16, teaching not only other teenagers but also adults in parochial faith formation… In a span of only 2 years, his work has led to thousands and thousands of people becoming or returning to the Catholic Church….He was recognized as a teenage prodigy and was given a teaching position at his local catholic parish at only age 16. He was still in high school while teaching the adults in catechesis.
In July of 2024 Alex found himself on the debate stage in his first ever formal public debate. His opponent was none other than the greatest American Protestant debater that has ever lived, Dr. James White – who was participating in his 199th debate. In a true “Rocky” story (Dr. White even brought up Alex’s voice being identical to Sylvester Stallone’s) Alex defeated his much more experienced opponent in one of the most shocking upsets in the history of Catholic vs. Protestant debates. Alex’s fame skyrocketed after this fateful event, and he became universally recognized in the apologetics world.
Less than a year later, in March of 2025, Alex was a guest on the George Janko Show, which is one of the most popular podcasts in the entire world. Alex shared and defended Catholic teaching in one of the most viral and universally praised conversations in the history of Catholic and Protestant dialogue, which even persuaded the famous Protestant podcast host to shift his view in real time towards the Catholic position. This one podcast episode has already led to thousands deciding to become Catholic.
Jurado has also just been accused of grooming a young girl, according to whistleblowers within the Catholic Community, who posted screenshots purporting to show him talking to a minor when she was in her early teens* and he was 19-20. These pictures were initially shared with Julianna Vivas (@juliannarvivas) after the girl reached out to her:
While not all the pictures are in order, as per the aforementioned email, Jurado seems to acknowledge she is still a child and references on how young she is. However, while opining about a potential marriage in their future, he insists that he sees her as a “sexy” grown “woman.”
X user Limbu, who has been sharing these photos on social media, is pretty direct about what he thinks of the matter:

His critics have accused Jurado of sending either flirtatious, inappropriate, or sexually explicit messages to several different women, including this alleged conversation from earlier this year: Note: pictures not necessarily in order. This alleged behavior is in sharp contrast to how he acted and what he said three weeks ago on the podcast Pints With Aquinas, where he offered that he didn’t feel God was calling him to marriage but instead to remain single, so that he might to help grow the kingdom of God.
Jurado has yet to comment publicly on these accusations.
Update: The original complaintant has issued a retraction, writing “Upon reflecting on the legal safeguards involved—as well as recognizing a failure on my part to ensure full due process—I acknowledge that I cannot definitively label the victim as 14…..After consulting with other mediators involved in the matter, we have agreed that the more accurate and appropriate terminology at this stage is to refer to the victim as a minor as a blanket term between the ages of 14-15-16. That said, I want to be clear: in a non-legal capacity, I continue to hold the belief—based on the evidence I’ve gathered and reviewed—that the victim was indeed 14. I believe this evidence could withstand scrutiny in a court of law if it were ever formally examined.”
In light of this we have updated the age to read as “young teen.”

You all remember the story of Saul/Paul correct? Cast the first stone? So, if any of us have ever committed sin in our youth, we should never be allowed to talk of our Holy Mother Church? Sinners should forever be held guilty? Better think twice. Living in the cell phone era, especially as a youth, is difficult. Before casting ANY judgement, we should pray and ask for guidance by our Preist. The Catechism is quite clear on what our behavior should be in this instance, and I see no one following this on ANY site.

Exactly. I still regard him as innocent until his guilt is proven and he has a chance to defend himself. Either way, which one of us doesn’t have some skeleton in our closets from our past that would destroy us if it became known to others? The only reason our past poor decisions and sins haven’t been made public is because we just aren’t that important. It seems clear you not only cast judgement in this statement above, you summarily cast an absolute judgement on an untold number of people who you know nothing about.
The are types things that should not even be named among the saints. It’s a bad look for the individuals in question, but also a bad look for Protestia who put up this extremely sexually explicit filth. As a convert to Catholicism from atheism I am stunned at the anti-Catholic, racist and offensive rhetoric in these comments. TBH I didn’t realize this kind of vitriolic hatred toward Catholics still existed in the 21st century. I can’t see how this fulfills the Christian outline of behavior from 1 Corinthians 16. It’s sad. As for Alex, he is a sinner in need of a savior as we all are, and he has frequently humbly asked for prayers. We have to let this situation play out as he is innocent until found guilty.
Rather than the animal you describe him as, a large number of women find him very attractive, with an incredible mind and heart. He would need to be heroic in his chastity because plenty of women would be showing interest in him continually. Some of the comments from men sound frankly bitter and jealous of his natural talents from the Lord. In the meantime I pray that Jesus may keep us and protect us all in his love and grace.

I agree that the way this was sensationalized with no verification is very questionable. The Lord uses Alex so powerfully for the Gospel that it would not be surprising if he came under direct attack such as this. However, none of us know the truth and we need to see this play out with the appropriate secular and Church authorities. He is still innocent until proven guilty.
