A Presbyterian minister who also works as a volunteer chaplain inside a Planned Parenthood clinic is insisting that women abort their babies out of an abundance of love for them.
Rev. Marvin Ellison is a retired professor of Christian ethics at Bangor Theological Seminary and an ordained pastor with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (PCUSA).
He’s also a major proponent of abortion. He founded the Maine Interfaith Council for Reproductive Choices, and even spent nearly a decade as a board member of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England.
During a sermon at the First Congregational Church in South Portland, Maine, Ellison shared with congregants a few things he’s learned from his experience as a volunteer chaplain for Planned Parenthood, including that “Love sometimes requires saying ‘no’ to life rather than ‘yes.”
“Without naming names or breaking confidences, I want to just speak about a few things I’ve learned from women who’ve received abortions and candidly shared their story with me.
From these women, I’ve learned something about the ‘who.’ They’re not two groups of women, women of faith and women who have abortions…Most women electing to terminate a pregnancy are religiously affiliated.
He continues:
And some confided in me that they had never expected to find a Christian minister inside Planned Parenthood. Maybe outside the clinic protesting, but they hadn’t imagined that they would meet a Christian minister inside the clinic, much less offering care and support.
From these women, I’ve also learned something else about the ‘who.’ They’re not two groups of women- women who love children and women who have abortions. Only one group of women exists.
Ellison concludes:
Women terminate pregnancies for the very same reason that under other circumstances, they carry pregnancies to term and give birth. Because of love, because of love and out of their high regard for the value of new life.
Love sometimes requires saying ‘no’ to life rather than ‘yes.’ ‘That’s a difficult truth, not always easy to tell.

And these women STILL have never met a Christian minister inside the clinic.
I truly hope that our God is an angry God who punishes the wicked. Otherwise, what’s the point of seeking justice and good deeds here on earth?
“Depart from Me, I never knew you”…
He’s not a pastor, he’s a pervert.
’Love sometimes requires saying ‘no’ to life rather than ‘yes.’
That is most likely what the Most High God is going to say to that apostate man pretending to be a pastor when he is standing before His Maker at the Great White Throne Judgement.
Matthew 7:23
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
The article makes a significant error.
PCUSA is not the Presbyterian Church in America. The Presbyterian Church in America is PCA and differs greatly.
Thank you! Corrected now.
Please correct the Presbyterian Church in America line…this would not fly in the PCA.
PCUSA Presbyterian Church USA? PCA has some issues bug this is not one of them.
