Murderous Texas Midwife Arrested For Committing Illegal Abortions
A Texas midwife has been arrested after it was discovered that she was running multiple illegal abortion clinics in the state.
According to a press release from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office, Maria Margarita Rojas, 48, has been taken into custody and been charged with “the illegal performance of an abortion, a second-degree felony, as well as practicing medicine without a license.”
Surgical abortions are illegal in Texas except to save the life of the mother, and abortion rates in the state have dropped precipitously since stringent laws came into effect. In 2024, there were only 64 abortions performed, which includes for reasons like ectopic pregnancies, compared to more than 52,000 a few short years ago.
“An extensive investigation by Attorney General Paxton’s Law Enforcement Division revealed that Rojas owned and operated multiple clinics under the names Clinica Waller Latinoamericana in Waller, Clinica Latinoamericana Telge in Cypress, and Latinoamericana Medical Clinic in Spring. These facilities unlawfully employed unlicensed individuals who falsely presented themselves as licensed medical professionals to provide medical treatment. Rojas also performed illegal abortion procedures in her clinics in direct violation of the Texas Human Life Protection Act.”
The government also filed for “a temporary restraining order to shut down Rojas’s network of clinics to prevent further illegal activity” and will likely seek civil penalties against her, which amount to $100,000 per abortion. AG Paxton further shared in the statement:
“In Texas, life is sacred. I will always do everything in my power to protect the unborn, defend our state’s pro-life laws, and work to ensure that unlicensed individuals endangering the lives of women by performing illegal abortions are fully prosecuted. Texas law protecting life is clear, and we will hold those who violate it accountable.”
Of course, that is a misnomer, as Texas only holds abortion providers liable for punishment and not the women, making it so that they don’t actually “hold those who violate it accountable.”
