Greg Locke Promises To Refund Congregants Who Asks For Tithes Back+ Reneges on Promise And Sends Attack Lawyer
Global Vision Bible Church pastor Greg Locke is proving that his “yes” is not his “yes,” but rather his “no,” after he offered in a recent sermon to refund all the tithes of any congregation member who felt that he and his church have misspent their money and “absconded” with it
When a brave soul sought to take him up on his offer and collect the money he’s given over the years, Locke went back on the deal and instead threatened to sue, sending a response through his lawyers which read :
“Please be further advised that there is no “verbal contract” as you claim, and Global Vision will not be making any “refund.” You should know that if you or your agents choose to pursue this matter, as the church has done with any legal issues, it will aggressively defend all of the church’s interests under Tennessee and federal law to include, but not be limited to, seeking all remedies against you.”
Readers of Protestia will recognize Locke as the controversial Tennessee pastor who divorced his first wife and remarried under questionable circumstances, who recently had a crazed gunman attempt to murder him and his family, and who is elbows deep in exorcisms and deliverance ministry after several witches supposedly harassed his church. We last wrote about him after he touted his ‘humbleness’ and ‘obedience’ by partnering with Benny Hinn, repented of writing a book against Benny Hinn, and now considers Him a ‘friend,’ threatened a Dunkin’ Donuts worker with kicking his teeth down his throat, said that if you deny the existence of tunnels under the White House or Capitol Building that were uncovered by the military and used to house both live and dead children, you’re just as complicit in the abuse as “crack-smoking perverts.”, and recently was declared to be an apostle.
During his October 27th sermon, talking about finances and plans for their future building, Locke told his congregants that if they’re so worried about how the church spends their money, he’ll simply refund all they’ve ever given:
If you’re that worried about it, listen, if you think we abscond with money, then we can look up your giving record and I’ll give it all back to you tomorrow, no matter how much you’ve ever given to this church. You can have it.
…Every dollar, every check, every dime, your giving record, my giving record, everybody else’s. If you want it back, you can have it.
Unsurprising, one of the people who has given money to the church took him up on his offer, sending him a letter requesting the promised refund:
Based on your publicly stated verbal contract on October 27, 2024 (see included video clip), the stipulation for receiving these monies is that we must think that you abscond with money. We therefore state that we think you abscond with money.
The conditions to receive all monies back have therefore been met and no further conditions shall be required. Our records reflect an amount of (blanked out)$ totaling (blanked out)$ dated 02/21/2023, which includes a cashiers check
Please let us know by close of business on October 31, 2024 when we can come pick up these requested funds.
This prompted Locke to respond through his lawyers at in a threatening and aggressive manner, writing:
I have had the opportunity to review and investigate the claims you make in your email. Please be further advised that there is no “verbal contract” as you claim, and Global Vision will not be making any “refund.”
You should know that if you or your agents choose to pursue this matter, as the church has done with all legal matters, it will aggressively defend all of the church’s interests under Tennessee and federal law to
include, but not be limited to, seeking all remedies against you in accordance with the Tennessee Public Participation Act…
This includes, but is not limited to, seeking all of my clients’ attorney’s fees and expenses, as well as sanctions against you, in accordance with Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 20- 17-107 (a) (1, 2). Furthermore, under the Loser Pays statute, any claim dismissed by a Tennessee court separate and apart from the TPPA will potentially result in up to $10,000.00 in attorney’s fees and costs to be paid by you for each dismissed claim.
