Baphomet-Destroyer Michael Cassidy Raises $20,000 in 3 Hours To Pay Legal Bills for ‘Hate Crime’
On Thursday, December 14, Michael Cassidy, a Christian, a self-described America First Conservative, walked into the Iowa capital building and smashed Baphomet, decapitating the idol before stuffing its head into a nearby trashcan.
In an interview with The Sentinel, Cassidy explained his motive for wrecking Baphomet.
“The world may tell Christians to submissively accept the legitimization of Satan, but none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment. Anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades, and Christians have largely acted like the proverbial frog in the boiling pot of water.”
Cassidy promptly turned himself in to the capital police and was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a result of The Satanic Temple pressing charges. Not content with such a mild indictment, Lucien Greaves, the co-founder and spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, declared that destroying the statue was a hate crime and will likely be vying for that angle in court.
The Sentinel quickly set up a GiveSendGo fundraiser, and in less than 3 hours, Cassidy raised $20,000, suspending the campaign with the goal met.
While his opponents rage, Cassidy was grateful, sharing:
Cassidy says, “none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment.” How does he know?
“Anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades,” he says. Wrong again. In his letter to Thomas Jefferson, the 2nd POTUS John Adams refers to the incarnation of Jesus Christ as an “awful blasphemy” that must be obliterated:
“The Europeans are all deeply tainted with prejudices, both ecclesiastical and temporal, which they can never get rid of. They are all infected with episcopal and presbyterian creeds, and confessions of faith. They all believe that great Principle which has produced this boundless universe, Newton’s universe and Herschell’s universe, came down to this little ball, to be spit upon by Jews. And until this awful blasphemy is got rid of, there never will be any liberal science in the world.” January 22, 1825.
John Smith:
No, Cassidy is undeniably correct that anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades. Intelligent and godly men of every generation have condemned the worshipping Satan/evil and public displays – especially in government buildings – are a recent occurence.
No, neither he nor you are correct. You show your ignorance of history. What US president today says it is his goal to obliterate the doctrine of Jesus’ incarnation? John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were publicly known to pursue this agenda. These anti-Christian values were very active in that generation just like they are today. Almost all of America’s founding fathers repudiated the idea of the incarnate God-man Jesus Christ.
And for the record, destroying other people’s property is just as anti-Christian as the satanic display. You think destroying another person’s property is justified if that property looks “evil.” This is so silly and naive. The Eighth Commandment forbids anyone from destroying what belongs to others. Cassidy’s position is essentially, “Let us do evil, that good may come” which the apostle Paul condemns severely in Romans 3:8.
