Charismatic Prophet Adorns Herself in Blood-Soaked Mantle of John the Baptist
Fresh Start Church in Peoria, Arizona, is led by pastor and pastrix Paul and Kim Owen. A New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) congregation within the Assemblies of God denomination, their website explains they “exist to influence a Nation with revival” and that “it is our mantle to host the Glory of God and raise revivalists. We don’t just want to experience a visitation. We want to be a habitation, a sustained dwelling place for the fullness of heaven.”
During a recent service, they invited Lydia Marrow as the guest speaker. Marrow says she was “touched in the Brownsville Revival in 1996” where she “received her call to the ministry at the age of 12.” She later studied worship ministry at the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry, graduated, released a few worship albums, led worship during the so-called Bay Revival, and now teaches and preaches all across the country, leading Vanguard Ministries, which exists to “provoke the Church toward revival and the lost toward repentance.”
Claiming she has an assignment and a word from the Lord, she preaches about casting off the “spirit of religion” and how refusing to cast off that spirit will result in a failure to bring revival.
Marrow declares that everyone wants the mantle from God, the same mantle that such venerated Pentecostal saints as Kathryn Kuhlman and Smith Wigglesworth possessed, but refuse to remove the “robes of religion.” To this end, she brings up a furry brown blanket streaked and matted with red paint that she describes as “my best impression of the mantle of John the Baptist,” telling the congregants:
“I want the mantle covered in blood. I want the mantle that preaches repentance. I want the mantle that lifts up a cry in the wilderness and says, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord!’ I don’t want to do church; I want to be a conduit of the Holy Ghost.”
She quickly leads the church in another frenzied worship/ altar call for those who want to be prophetic and receive the blood-soaked mantle of John the Baptist, laying on hands, speaking in tongues, slaying people in the spirit, and amping up everyone for more hype and emotionalism, before eventually passing on the mantle to the pastors.
This is the same church that brought you “screaming worship” and most chaotic service we’ve ever seen.

Careful, critics, that in your zeal to criticize how others choose to worship God, you don’t incur the curse of God like Michal did (cf. 2Sam 6:23) after she made fun of David’s dance before God.
Based on middle eastern customs, it’s more like David condemned her and not God. Women in a harem-like relationship with a king could be banished to a place of confinement and that’s why she remained childless. She belonged to the king and had to remain in his house even though she was removed from his presence.

This “worship” does appears chaotic.
God has told us how to worship Him in His Word, and this “ain’t” it.
You would have done better to tell me ‘touch not the Lords anointed…’
But I understand, that verse has been misused by charismatics for so long it doesn’t have the same bite.
Careful? The people who need to be “careful” are those who disobey God… women in positions of authority, reaching men? Big NO. Disorderly worship? Big NO. I could go on, but, when people ignore the written Word of God they SHOULD be criticized.

As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

They are heretic.
No worries about them worshipping God, much less incurring His wrath 🙄
Yet another narcissistic opportunist garnering fame and fortune at the expense of reverent worship of God and His Son.
This is to be expected as we cross over the line.
Mans churches are failing as we enter the end of days of which we have been forewarned. I started to write a letter years ago to my family which turned into a website. Money has no value there, no trips to Alaska, no books to buy, no – none of that.
Mans Churches have assumed to themselves priesthoods and authority thereby dividing believers one against another. They also assumed responsibilities which God ordained and appointed for Men and Women (The Family) – not men’s churches. This is the main reason christian marriages are failing at the same rate as secular families.
What is God’s Church? It’s Jesus Christ and Born Again Believers having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit our True Guide, our True Teacher, our True Comforter along with God’s Word and the Testimony of His Creation. They are the living breathing Church Of God, adopted Sons and Daughters of God destined to be with Him throughout eternity.
