Done Deal! Church of England Votes to Bless and Affirm Same-Sex Civil Marriages

The Church of England’s General Synod voted this week on a historic proposal to allow clergy to offer prayers of thanksgiving for same sex-couples and bless same-sex civil marriages in the church, backed by the support of Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, in a shameless repudiation of the scriptures and the God of the Bible.

The scheme to bless and affirm homosexual relationships is the result of six years of “study” and “evaluation” by the Church under the Living in Love and Faith (LLF) project, which is the vehicle used by pink-haired and dapper progressives alike to create a new framework for acceptable sexual morality within the church. According to reports:

The final motion was passed across the synod’s three ‘houses’. The House of Bishops voted 36 in favour, four against with two abstentions. The House of Clergy voted 111 in favour, 85 against and 3 abstentions. The House of Laity voted 103 in favour, 92 against, and 5 abstentions.

The bishops will now finalise the wording of the new prayers and also issue new guidance on whether gay clergy must remain celibate before the synod meets again in July.

In short, apostates gonna apostate. For decades the deplorable Anglican denomination has been drifting on issues of theology and human sexuality, proving time and time again the 26 million members are not the least bit committed to upholding the biblical teachings, but instead adopting the worst excesses of the woke movement in a pathetic and desperate attempt at relevancy.

This is just more of the same.

  1. House of Clergy and Laity had a huge majority against it, and yet it passed? It would have been helpful if the article mentioned why this is the case. We can assume that the bishops trump all others, but then the assessment in the final paragraph wouldn’t really apply.

  2. This “church” should have never been formed in the first place by Henry. It was an extremely bad an sinful idea from the very beginning…Erastianism is grossly unbiblical, and now it seems that God is removing it’s lampstand. The true believers in it should wake up and flee from this abomination.

    1. Good point, and very true. It was formed specifically to ignore and disrespect God’s definition of marriage, divorce, and adultery – including Jesus’ direct and specific teaching on the matters. It’s not exactly surprising that the so-called “church” would continue its tradition of disrespect.

  3. One has to wonder why these Anglicans insist on playing church. They are obviously in love with the world so why don’t they just be a part of the world? It just goes to show that Satan is not content to have his own things, he must have God’s things.

The sad thing is, one of the greatest Christian writers of the 19th century (JC Ryle) was an Anglican. That denomination would be well served if they would take his writings to heart.
