IFB Pastor Declares Women Should Have NO SAY in How Many Kids They Have. ‘That’s Feminism!’

Stedfast Baptist Church is an independent fundamental King James Only church in Watauga, TX, pastored by Jonathan Shelley, a controversial perhaps best known for publicly and repeatedly calling for the death of all homosexuals, exemplified in this brief sermon snippet:

It’s going beyond just saying you do all this wicked stuff, it’s saying you enjoy it. You enjoy murder. You enjoy malignity. You enjoy hating God. Look, there’s only one group that enjoys that, is the PRIDE parades going up down the street.

And you know, it’s great when trucks accidentally go through those, you know, paradesI think only one person died, so hopefully we can hope for more in the future.

You say ‘oh that’s mean’. Yeah, but the bible says that they’re worthy of death.

You say, ‘Are you sad when fags die?’ No, I think it’s great. I hope they all die. I would love it if every fag would die right now. And you say, ‘Well, I don’t think that’s what you really mean’. That’s exactly what I mean. I really mean it.

Shelley is a wretched preacher whose theology surrounding men and women is misguided at best and dangerous at worse. Far from loving his wife as Christ loves the church, he hates her like Satan hates the elect, demonstrated by the utter lack of deference and care he gives her. He explains in a recent sermon:

I heard an independent fundamentalist baptist preacher, he’s like ‘you know, it’s not right for me to just tell my wife when we’re gonna have kids, you know, I need to ask her permission or ask when it’s okay to start having kids.’

And I’m like thinking like, ‘are you a man? Are you a Baptist? You’re a fundamental Baptist preacher and you’re gonna ask your wife if it’s okay to have children?’ I’m like, ‘what planet Am I living on?’

You know, how effeminate is that, to let your wife tell you when she’s gonna have kids or not? I mean, that’s feminism. You know which buttons I ask my wife if it’s ok to press? None. Because she doesn’t tell me what to do.

You know, that’s a weird relationship and it’s sad that fundamental Baptist preachers are letting their wives tell them what to do

  1. Jonathan Shelley and Stedfast Baptist Church are NOT IFB. They are part of the New IFB movement, claiming the IFB is not fundamental enough. The movement was started by Steven L. Anderson, pastor at Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona. Shelley is a protege of Anderson’s and learned all he knows about the Bible from Anderson. The New IFB movement consists of a number of churches throughout the U.S. and Europe. I could go on and one about the NIFB, but I have already written extensively about them, and produced numerous videos about them. I have interacted with many of them personally (including Shelley), I have been threatened by them, and (i believe) they murdered a friend of mine who was helping me research the group.

True. I’m an IFB and Andersonites high-jacked the name. They’re more reformed in eschatology and cultish on about everything else.

  2. The fear of women has replaced the fear of God and when someone comes along who doesn’t fear women (regardless of whatever theological shortcomings they have), there’s no shortage of tradcons ready to dogpile them.
