Cursed Choir Sings Cursed Song with Cursed Lyrics. WARNING: Watching it Will Curse You
At the All Souls Church Unitarian DC, a pro-choice, pro-LBGTQ, progressive pagan-ified hellscape where folks who hate Jesus gather to curse his name in solidarity with other Christ-unfollowers, the All-souls Choir performed what can only be described as one of the worst songs ever.
The church hellhole, led by Traci Hughes Trotter and the Rev. Bill Sinkford, still does not allow congregants to attend unmasked and, in fact, requires proof of vaccination to attend.
According to their website:
Unitarian Universalists have no set creed, but we do affirm seven shared Principles …. If you join in fellowship with Unitarian Universalism, you can hold any opinion you want about the existence of a god and what to call that god. You can change your opinion over time. You can follow your conscience, your readings, your thoughts, and your desires on issues like the existence of an afterlife, the idea of sin, the value of prayer, or the authority of religious texts.
So basically, the ELCA, United Church of Christ, and the PCUSA in about 30 years, or the SBC in 60 if they don’t smarten up.
Titled Identity Politics, this particularly nasty song comes from Melissa Dunphy’s “Amendment: Righting Our Wrongs,” with some texts cribbed from a speech by Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Here it is in all its vile glory.
Identity Politics
Text by Stacey Abrams, Melissa Dunphy and Ida B. Wells
With no sacredness of the ballot
there can be no sacredness of human life itself.
Our rights depend:
On whether we live in the right state,
On where we were born,
On how or when our families arrived,
On whether we can afford valid ID,
On whether that ID matches our gender,
On the lawyers we can afford,
On whether the criminal justice system
has convicted us of certain crimes under the law
(a system that targets some of us
more than others),
This is the next battle for our democracy,
One where all citizens can have their say
about the vision we want for our country.
With liberty and justice for all
Our rights depend:
On whether we have the time to stand in line
for hours on a weekday,
On whether our names were purged from the rolls,
On whether our votes are spoiled
and left in uncounted piles.
With no sacredness of the ballot
There can be no sacredness of human life itself.
Our rights depend
On whether America can live up to its promises
Of equality
And liberty and justice for all!
