Breaking! RZIM Announces Name Change + Complete Purge of All Ravi Zacharias Content

Ravi Zacharias International Ministries has announced that they are removing all content produced by their namesake from their website, including books, videos, and articles, and furthermore are changing the name of their organization in order to put as much distance between themselves and the famously disgraced Christian apologist.

In a statement on their website, RZIM CEO Sarah Davis explains that the ministry is in the process of working through an outside assessment of their organization by Guidepost Solutions, who has begun the process of “evaluating our structures, culture, policies, processes, finances, and practices, including the handling of any former abuse allegations” so that they can “understand all areas of unhealth in our organization so that we can take that learning and do everything we can to prevent any kind of abuse in the future.”

They explain that they expect it to take several months and “we do not plan to comment on any recommendations being made until the process has been completed.”

Furthermore, RZIM confirmed that they are wiping out any and all traces of Ravi Zacharias from their organization, as well as changing the name of the organization post haste.

We are in the process of taking down Ravi’s content from our website and social media platforms, including publications, videos, and other forms of content, and we intend to change the name of the organization. Effective immediately, we are also discontinuing the use of “The Zacharias Institute” brand.

Along with this announcement, RZIM has (temporarily?) shuttered its website. Now, when one visits, there is only a link to their statement and to their hotline, which they put up so that anyone who has information about Ravi Zacharias’ evil appetites or organizational malfeasance and dysfunction can contact Guidepost directly to make a complaint.

  1. Wow such hypocrisy by these people! Do they not believe in the written word of God and the gospel of redemption themselves? Ravi Zacharias ministry touched millions of lives including my own. Just because the sins and mistakes he made have now been revealed does not in any way cheapen the ministry and work he did for the kingdom of God.
If you go by the knee jerk reaction of the RZIM staff to erase all of the good things Ravi did over the course of his ministry are you really providing an example of God’s grace in action? I think not!
So are we going to erase all of King David’s good works and remove the book of Psalms from the bible just because David had Bathsheba’s husband killed in battle so that he could have her? He committed sins of adultery, deception, and murder in the story of David and Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11 & 12). David repented, asked God for forgiveness, and God forgave him of his sin. God still used him mightily, to the glory of His name. Are we going to erase all of the good things that Moses did because he killed an Egyptian?
The Apostle Paul (formerly “Saul of Tarsus”): Murdered, Harassed, and Persecuted Christians in the early Church. Saul had a dramatic encounter with God on the road to Damascus, repented, and God forgave him of his sins. The entire story of Saul’s Conversion is in Acts 9. After Saul’s conversion, be became known as Paul. Apostle Paul was not perfect, but he became an extremely useful tool in God’s hands, teaching, growing, inspiring and encouraging the early church. He went on to write much of the New Testament and continues to be a blessing to believers even today.
The Apostle Peter (Peter the Disciple): Denied Jesus three times, and failed many times (just like us). He had faith and walked on water. He received divine revelation that Jesus Christ was the son of God (Matthew 16:16-17), but turned around and became an adversary (speaking for the devil), trying to prevent Jesus from fulfilling His mission. Thus, Jesus had to rebuke him (Matthew 16:22-23). Even after all this, Peter was used mightily by God to encourage, teach, heal, minister to, lead and grow the early church. He wrote books in the New Testament, and His writings continue to help us Christians grow today.
Rahab the Prostitute: Rahab was a Prostitute. Despite her sketchy background, she was used by God in mighty ways. She demonstrated great faith and helped the people of God. She is listed in the “Hall of Faith”, and she is listed in the direct lineage of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5).
The Parable of the Prodigal Son – Is an Illustration of God’s Mercy, Love, Compassion & Forgiveness
Summary: The prodigal son demanded his share of the family esate, left home and squandered all his money. He “came to his senses” and returned home, hoping his father would accept him back as a servant. His father “saw him from afar”, ran to meet him and embraced him, celebrating his return. This is an illustration of God’s love, compassion, forgiveness and mercy ~ How much God loves us and welcomes us back.
By saying all of this I am in now way excusing the sinful behavior of Ravi Zacharias, but what the point I would like to convey here is that as the Apostle Paul said in Romans, …”where sin abounds the grace of God abounds much more” All of us have sinned and broken the laws and commandments of God! Our salvation is not based on this fact but on the grace of God and this wonderful gift of salvation he gives each of us that believe! So Ravi is just another example of the awesome grace of God and how God can still use the flawed and sinful. We have this treasure in earthen vessels as the bible says and if anyone of us says they don’t sin they are lying! The staff of RZIM needs to reevaluate how they are dealing with this situation and not cow tow to the “cancel culture” of this world. The body of Christ is supposed to be influencing the culture and demonstrating the father heart of God which is one of long suffering and patience and forgiveness. He doesn’t erase our good works just because we sin and fall short on almost a daily basis! All of our works will be tried by fire and even if they all burn up we will still be saved because we are not saved by our works period!
I Corinthians 3:13 each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

  2. Removing all the content doesn’t make sense. Is it to please people? Considering removing the content then since the time he was under the influence of that sin can be considered. But removing all it simply means he never spoke truth and from the beginning he was wrong. It doesn’t justify.
I had been listening to RZ from past 8 years and his teachings had impacted my life at large also not discounting what he did was right but making all his good works zero is not at all good.

  3. We have written RZIM and called for Ms. Davis’ resignation. It has been clear from the start that she is unqualified to lead and her actions over the past year make us ask other questions. We find this step to be very wrong and we have voiced our views over at theologyarchaeology.
